T his Weeks Book is: Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig Things to think about: Why did the father lock the pebble away?  Would you? Things to do:  Do you collect things like Sylvester collects pebbles?  Draw a picture of them or tell why you collect them.   You can download and use:  Sylvester and the Magic Pebble Sheet . Something Happened in Our Town

Today's Read Aloud is a special book called Something Happened in Our Town.  This book can help parents talk to their children about what is happening in our country.   It is about a girl named Emma and a boy named Josh who are in the same classroom. T his week's Read Aloud is: Snappsy the Alligator Did Not Ask To Be In This Book Written by: Julie Falatko Illustrated by: Tim Miller Things to think about: Who is telling the story?  What is the "truth", what the narrator says or what Snappsy says?  Does what the narrator says, change what Snappsy is doing? Things to do: What kind of animal is Snappsy (He is an alligator.)?  Use what you learned in the story to fill out this Animal Research Organizer , then make another one on either real alligators or another animal you know.  Use this link to National Geography Kids to help you. Below are the library activities for the week of May 18th. Listen and watch the Dragons Love Tacos video. Things to think about: What type of food do you like?  Do you like any food that other people don't like? Things to do: Draw and write about your favorite part in the book. If you have a printer, you can use this  Favorite Part  worksheet. For extra fun, keep filling out the Distance Reading Menu that was sent home from school.
